The report titled ‘Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics  is the output of the Sample Vital Registration System (SVRS). SVRS is a well-known and regular surveillance system undertaken by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics to determine the annual population change at the national and sub-national levels. It also provides a good number of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators along with different socioeconomic indicators to monitor the 8th Five Years Plan and other national plans. SVRS was introduced in 1980 to collect data on vital events and generate estimates on births, deaths, marriages and migrations on an annual basis.
